Daisy Ridley New Star Wars Film: Release Date, Trailer, Details

By now, it’s an unimpeachable take that Daisy Ridley was a fantastic pick to lead the next generation of Star Wars stories. The epic, generational tale of galactic war hadn’t really focused on a morally good, female lead since Princess Leia—and the latest trilogy of films under the Disney banner sought to rightfully correct that moving forward. Following the trailer for the upcoming Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead—which electrified the crowd at Star Wars Celebration Day in London—Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy secretly held an even more exciting reveal for the presentation. Daisy Ridley will return to lead another film.

The new film will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel). The story will jump “15 years after the events of the Rise of Skywalker,” according to Kennedy, with Obaid-Chinoy adding that the trilogy will “tell the story of the rebuilding of a new Jedi order.” Ridley, now a powerful Jedi master as her character Rey, appeared on stage at the event and stated that she was “very thrilled to be continuing this journey.”

Other exciting projects announced at the Star Wars Celebration include Season Two of Andor (coming in August 2024), a prequel series titled The Acolyte, Jude Law’s Skeleton Crew with episodes directed by The Daniels and Lee Isaac Chung, and a Mandalorian-verse film to conclude the events of the popular Disney+ series. Strap in, folks. We’re taking this ship into hyperspace.
