Spoilers, Trailer, Cast, Release Date

The satirical superhero mayhem of The Boys is set to receive its first live-action spinoff series on Amazon, focusing on a superhero college. Titled Gen V, the series will follow a highly successful Season Three of The Boys that explored the crude Captain America parody character, Soldier Boy, and his ties to the main villain of the series, Homelander. With its young cast of heroes, Gen V will take inspiration from Marvel’s X-Men and include storylines from Season Three’s shocking finale.

Considering The Boys isn’t afraid of a little blood and profanity, one can imagine that college will spell a whole mess of danger. Especially since all the students will be suped-up and ready to raise hell. And by the early sound of it, R-rated is exactly what we’re getting. Seth Rogen, who is a producer on several The Boys-verse projects (including Gen V), recently hyped the absolute heck out of the college-set spinoff. “I’ve been starting to see episodes of [Gen V] and it’s completely insane,” Rogen told Collider. “Just like the combination of superheroes in a college setting in an incredibly subversive R-rated world. There are parts of that show where me and Evan [Goldberg] are watching the cuts of the sequences that were just like, ‘Dear God, what are they doing over there?!'”

Well, supes, you know better than to doubt Rogen. So get pumped. Here’s everything we know about Gen V so far.

What Is Gen V About?

Run by Vought International—the multibillion-dollar superhero conglomerate led by the Homelander—Gen V is set at America’s only college exclusively for superheroes. According to Amazon’s official synopsis, the spinoff is “an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It’s part college show, part Hunger Games—with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.” Tell us less, Amazon!

Who Is in the Cast of Gen V?

The Boys spinoff will star Lizze Broadway (American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules) as Emma Shaw and Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Marie Moreau. The series will also star Sean Patrick Thomas, Shelley Conn, Asa Germann, Derek Luh, Chance Perdomo, Maddi Phillips, Marco Pigossi, and London Thor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, will join the college romp, as a superhero named Golden Boy. He has described as a “top prospect,” with “thermonuclear power and pure charisma.” For what it’s worth, in an interview on the Just for Variety podcast, Schwarzenegger described the show as “Euphoria meets superheroes.” Who wouldn’t want to see that crossover?

When Does Gen V Premiere?

Gen V will likely air sometime in 2023 before the premiere of The Boys Season Four, but neither release date has been officially announced. “It’s gonna be filled with blood, guts, and everything else,” Perdomo teased in an announcement video posted to the Instagram page for The Boys. “It’s f****d up. You’re gonna like it.”
